Entrance sign steel frame with powder coated aluminium rim with stained timber back board and built-up letters to face.
The first step within this process was to visit the site and complete a survey. Straightaway it was obvious that the framework needed to be cantilevered to sit above the Cornish stone wall. Measurements and templates completed we could then bring this back to our drawing department and create a digital version. Designing the sign, we were given a brief to imitate the shape of a boat following the curve of the wall. We used the information gathered in the survey and the vision of the client to work our factors such as which side needs to be curved, by how much and at what angles. This allowed us to ensure the signs shape would match the wall. Once the framework was confirmed this allowed us to fix the timber and letters. The timber was machined/planed and then treated and stained. Acrylic letters cut and painted to the clients branding colours. Shadow gaps between the timber and matching fixings helped to create the overall look the client was hoping to achieve. The final touch was to finish the sign with an aluminium trim around the timber. We also supplied and installed two flag poles and flags to match the clients branding. We then designed and manufactured two more smaller entrance signs that needed to look as visually alike the main sign as possible. Again, using the same materials, timber and stain, acrylic letters coloured to match, thereby creating a cohesive design.
